His followers, a collection of eccentric individuals draped in flowing silks and sporting alarmingly serene expressions, were proving frustratingly unhelpful.  Their carefully cultivated aura of enlightenment concealed a wall of silence, each carefully chosen word a carefully constructed barrier.

“They’re all acting like they’ve just achieved nirvana,” Ben muttered, wiping sweat from his brow with the back of his hand.  “Except, you know, without the blissful glow. More like the vacant stare of a goldfish.”

Ava, perched on a rickety stool, examined a photograph of Finch – a man whose smile suggested he knew secrets best left undisturbed. “Maybe they *have* achieved nirvana,” she countered, her voice low. “Or maybe they’re all in on something.”

Their initial investigation had uncovered a series of unusual transactions – large sums of money transferred to offshore accounts, coded messages intercepted from Finch’s encrypted laptop, and whispers of a hidden society operating under the guise of spiritual enlightenment.  The whispers hinted at something far darker than the typical charlatan preying on vulnerable individuals.

The warehouse served as a temporary headquarters, a grim contrast to the opulent setting of Finch’s retreat.
